Could you give us an introduction of who you are, what you do in this world, and how you got where you are sharing this work with women?
I’m Nadia and I was born in London to Moroccan and Cypriot parents but educated in the American system. I studied cultural studies and journalism in California and that opened my eyes so much because I saw the world one way and California functions in a whole other way but that story is for another day. Anyway, thanks to journalism I travelled a lot and recognized that I had an innate connection to children, all my stories were connected to them somehow… so I thought I should teach but I was always drawn to the parents at the same time I started a spiritual path at a young age, probably because or thanks to my parents…..so in my mid twenties I moved to New York where I worked on various projects with UNICEF and the socio economic impact of foreign investment in and became an active student of the Kabbalah center in New York and then eventually even there I was drawn to all the volunteer activities involving children. Anyhow I sort of juggled between providing support and child care but also emotional support ie. parenting tips and then educational, thanks to my education.
So I danced around the idea of starting a parenting program to give parents some tips but instead I became a teacher and I realised I wasn’t as invested in the academic success of the children so I became like a pusher for tips and tricks, using my spiritual background and interest in plant medicine to advise these families. We used to hold workshops based on holistic truths. So after all this I was pregnant with my first child who really gave me the courage to go against the norms and break the system – she is Aquarius- and start my own business! and that’s how I got to where I am today.
What is your gift to the world?
I help ambitious, spiritually minded mothers go from feeling burnt out to energised, joyful, and at peace so they can truly enjoy their motherhood journey and be fully present and deeply connected with their children! That’s my mission, but really I am a cheerleader, I am very good at cheerleading.
Tell us more about your offering. How do you support women in your work?
I give lots of attention and care to those who I get to work with which is something reaaaally underestimated; I use all the education I have and share it and most importantly I make it simple… so often we think we need to have read all the books and know all the stuff but the hardest part is knowing what to apply and when and I think when it comes to mums it’s never about putting the work in. Most mums put the work in but mostly what happens is that they experience this freeze, this overwhelm and they don’t tap into their natural resources. What comes up is that most times all they need is to verbalise whatever it is they are experiencing with someone to gain that confidence and momentum. That’s what I’m here for.
Some mums want me to be like a supernanny for them and they wish that I could give them that hindsight in the moment. So that’s what the program caters for as well.
Do you work just with mums? Are mums just fresh from postpartum or in any stage of matressence?
Yes AND yes, motherhood from early postpartum till teens age…
What do you see more often as a struggle in the coaching that you do?
Burnout, women putting their needs last.
Why do you think women in today’s world are struggling so much with overwhelm/ burnout/do-it-all syndrome?
Because they aren’t following their natural rhythm, because we don’t live in communities like we used to. We feel the burden, we feel the responsibility. It’s the conversation that is happening all around us. Essentially we don’t feel we have permission to live authentically.
Is there a particular strategy you use with these women?
Not necessarily a strategy. I just connect with my experiences and I try not to talk or teach, just know that I am there with them, I am talking WITH them, not at them. Sometimes of course my degrees help but essentially it’s me as a human connecting with another human.
What is a way for women to reconnect more with their feminine side?
Be more connected with their body, overcome to get burnout, anxiety, depression (or whatever is that you see them struggle with). Ask for help! Kate Northrup says it beautifully in her book, “Do Less” , “You don’t have to do it all. It’s not meant to be all on you.” So often than not, we don’t ask for help…. and most of the time we don’t even know what to ask for…
Another beautiful offering of yours is the women’s circles. For those not familiar with this gathering, could you tell us more about what kind of space it is and if there is any prerequisite to participate?
Oh yes so this is a project that I absolutely LOVE! There are no prerequisites. It’s a judgment-free space for us to be together and co-create. To be seen and heard and know that you are not alone. The space is open for all women interested in lunar energy and connecting back with our natural cycles. I am very interested in learning about cyclical living and the best way to learn is by sharing with others and exchanging these ideas. Even the days of the week have a particular energy.
What about astrology/ how do you implement it for families and in the coaching sessions?
Each family gets a personal reading…we look at the parts that speak to both of us based on your desires and values… you can look at a chart again and again and obviously, there is so much to learn here but really what speaks to us and we use it as a ROADMAP to get you to tap into your innate gifts and create the life you came to this world to live.
